Today in North Woods Creatures. Another Sphinx Moth.
Big and furry, about 4”
Little girl giggles and sleepy little boy snuggles made this the best day of the summer.
Kayaking doesn’t hold a candle to the joy I felt from today. Love these 2 more than life!
Train time with my favorite niece!
People back home really don’t understand where I live. My nearest Target/Walmart is 2 hours away. My grocery store is an hour and a half away. Sure, there’s a little general store in my unincorporated town, but I really don’t want to pay $6 for a half gallon of milk.
The maid of honor has been emailing about the bridal shower and whatnot. I finally got a minute last night after my run to pop across the street and get on the internet. I explained that I live in the middle of nowhere, and would be happy to help purchase supplies of quick easy food stuff, I.e., pop or alcohol, I could buy when I get into town the night before. I explained, due to lack of resources, I wouldn’t be able to help make anything (the MOH is super eccentric crafty and wants everything homemade).
I got an email from the brides mother this morning suggesting that I could get some party favors/gifts…I.e. cute-sy note pads and Bath and Body Works lotions and trial products, things like that.
Yesterday I volunteered to take the students to the international dinner that is hosted monthly by the church I attend up in Grand Marais. It was great-I got to get to know a few more people, so I’ll see some more friendly faces on Sunday. Subsequently, I wasn’t able to do my speedwork yesterday. So…
I can’t for the life of me figure out how to set up my Garmin properly so it tells me how to run my splits evenly. I’m lucky I got it to do intervals, then I just ran by feel. This is how it turned out:
Well. Let’s just say my goal was 3:05/600m, yeah? Yeah. I imagine it’s going to bite me in my ass eventually, but I’ll roll with it.
Super excited to play hooky half the day tomorrow to go kayaking!
Twin Cities Tumblrs…
I’m coming home next weekend and on Sat the 26th is a Charities Challenge 5K at Como Lake.
The Charities Challenges are awesome races put on by the best coach I have the pleasure of knowing. It also doesn’t hurt that they’re primarily held at my favorite city lake.
Challenge Cancer 5k—8am @ Como Lake
Anyone want to run it with me?
"The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts."
And with that, I became a bicycle commuter!
Easy 8: 1:33:04
I skipped yesterday because I worked from 8am-10pm and my knee has been tender for a little while and I didn’t want to push it with 6 on the treadmill.
8 miles ran.
7 times I got spooked from noises in the woods.
6 bugs picked out of my mouth.
5 was the number of miles ran until I had to turn on my headlamp.
4 was the magic number when “easy” became boring.
3 times I ran by my car.
2 minutes was how long I paused for GU and water.
1 was the number of non insect-y creatures I acknowledged (myself).
